Straughn High School Library Media Center
HOURS: 7:50 - 2:50 (Closed for 2nd lunch & after school hours available upon request)
Welcome to the SHS Library Media Center's Web page (Grades 9-12)
The library is the hub of research at Straughn High School. With more than 8,000 books and audio-visual items, the library serves the needs of students and faculty. Follett's automated database, Destiny Library allows easy access to our varied collection from 22 library computers or from the classroom. Current information and ideas are fingertips away to help students find facts, discover diverse opinions, and form their own conclusions.
Online databases and resources provide outstanding reference materials. The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) is accessible at all times. The Alabama Virtual Library no longer requires an AVL card for home access. The AVL now uses geolocation that gives immediate access to the databases if you are located within the state of Alabama. If you have trouble with AVL home access you may see me and I can issue you log-in credentials.
Please contact Mrs. Turman for assistance. Thank you for using your library media center.
